Calibrating Spirometers

All medical equipment needs thorough and comprehensive testing on a regular basis. Failure to adequately test equipment puts it at risk of failure or of false readings being displayed from the equipment, which can have disastrous results. Our team offer medical equipment testing for a huge number of various medical devices.

Spirometers are used to test the volume of air in the lungs. Essentially, they test how well the lungs work by measuring how much air the person can inhale and exhale, as well as how quickly they exhale. This is due to the fact that breathing is often severely affected by diseases that affect the pulmonary system, such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma and cystic fibrosis. Whenever any symptoms related to these diseases are seen, or the symptoms of other diseases that attack the pulmonary system, the patient blows into the spirometer in order to test it.

The spirometer takes two readings: the volume of air breathed out in a single second, and the total amount of air that the person can breathe out. Usually, a patient is made to breathe out a few times in order to obtain an accurate reading. Due to the potentially life-threatening diseases that this machine tests for, its readings need to be as accurate as possible. Any inaccuracies could put the patient’s life at risk.

We undertake thorough medical equipment testing to fully calibrate your machines and ensure that they are safe and suitable for use. In one visit, our fully trained engineers are able to quickly yet thoroughly test and calibrate all of your equipment. Once all tests and calibrations have been completed, you’ll receive a full results pack, allowing you to claim 3 QOF points and satisfy your CQC requirements. We will beat any genuine quotation by at least 15%, and can promise you that all testing carried out will be accurate and will ensure that your spirometer is completely accurate in the readings that it takes.
